What is Invisalign®?

As the pioneers of clear aligners, you’ve probably heard of Invisalign®. This cutting-edge company has been helping to realign and straighten out smiles since the 1990s in a subtle, unobtrusive style that patients love.

Using their patented ClinCheck 3D treatment plan, Invisalign® offers patients a way to see their straighter smile before committing to the treatment. Then, thanks to their patented SmartTrack material, patients are able to straighten their teeth without having to worry about obtrusive and unsightly traditional metal braces.

What is the treatment process like?

After your initial consultation during which we’ll be able to offer you a picture of what your new, straighter smile might look like, we’ll then take an impression or digital scan of your mouth. This will then be sent off to the expert lab technicians who will make your set of clear aligners for you.

Once ready, you’ll wear each set of these subtle, clear aligners for a week before swapping them out for a new set. In this way, your Invisalign® aligners will gently and subtly realign your teeth to the desired position.

Can I take my aligners out?

Yes. One of Invisalign®’s most popular features is the fact that they are removable. In order for the treatment to be as successful as possible, however, we do recommend wearing your aligners for 22+ hours a day. While the removability of the aligners makes for a more comfortable and flexible experience, you do need to wear them as much as possible in order to produce the results you’re looking for.

How long does the treatment process take?

This will vary from patient to patient, according to the position of your teeth at the start of the treatment and your smile ambitions. Most patients wearing Invisalign® can expect to wear them for between four and nine months.

What can Invisalign® fix?

teeth-thumb01

Crowded teeth

Crowded teeth is a condition where you do not have enough room for your teeth to fit normally. This can cause plaque or tartar and other harmful bacteria to build up as it is harder for you to brush and floss well.

teeth-thumb02

Gaps between teeth

Gaps between teeth is when there is extra space between two or more of your teeth. This can cause pockets between your teeth and gums and can cause food to get stuck making them tender and sore. This might also lead to gum disease.

teeth-thumb03

Open bite

An Open bite is when your upper and lower teeth don't touch when you close your mouth. An open bite can make it hard for you to chew or difficult to bite even the most common of food like apples.

teeth-thumb04

Underbite

An underbite is when you close your mouth and your lower front teeth are in front of your upper teeth. In many cases, this is actually a problem with your lower jaw being too far forward. An underbite can make it hard to chew properly and speak clearly, and it might cause your teeth to wear down more quickly.

teeth-thumb05

Overbite

An overbite is when your upper front teeth overlap with your lower front teeth. Most people have at least a little overbite. When your overbite is too large, your doctor might tell you you have a deep bite. This can cause problems, from your teeth wearing down to pain in your jaw.

teeth-thumb06

Crossbite

A crossbite is when you close your mouth and yet some of your upper teeth are sitting inside your lower teeth rather than on the outside. A crossbite can make your teeth wear down or chip. It can also make your gums start to recede or make little notches above your gum line. This kind of damage can lead to painful gum problems or even bone loss.
